Third man is charged over murder of dad

A TEENAGER has been charged with the murder of Eddie Meenan in Londonderr­y.

Ryan Walters (19), of Crawford Square in the city, appeared at a special sitting of Omagh Magistrate­s Court on Saturday.

No bail applicatio­n was made and Walters was remanded in custody until December 20.

Walters (right )is the third person to be charged with the murder of Mr Meenan, whose body was found in an alleyway in the Creggan Street area of the city on November 25.

Police said at the time that the 52-year-old father suffered significan­t injuries to his head and body.

There were emotional scenes at Londonderr­y Magistrate­s Court on Friday when two other men were charged with his murder.

The accused were Sean Ciaran Joseph Rodgers (31), from Little Diamond in the Bogside area of the city and Derek Cresswell, (26), of no fixed abode. In reply to the charge, Rodgers denied the offence and the defendant Cresswell made no reply.

Both were remanded in custody until later this month. Meanwhile, a 17-yearold man who was being questioned about Mr Meenan’s death has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police have appealed for two men and a woman who were in the Creggan Street area at the time of the incident to come forward.
