Man buys fleece blankets for NI hospital after elderly patient seen ‘shivering’
Freddie Jones:
This needs to be sent to every MLA who is not working. Can’t see them losing much sleep over it.
John Miller:
It’s because of a handful of MLAs that the rest can’t get back to work. One of my MLAs has worked tirelessly over the past few months, helping homeless people outside his constituency get essential supplies and clothing as we enter the colder nights. He kindly gave permission to have his office as a drop-off point for clothing, which he has been running down to Belfast. MLAs might not be legislating and debating, but they still sit on committees, their offices are still helping constituents and they are out among the community on almost a daily basis. At least mine is, anyway.
Linda Kelly:
Imagine if your relative’s last words were, “I’m so cold”. Dear God, this made me weep — and be thankful that we nursed my mother at home until she died. But not everyone has that option. Shame on our invisible government.
Tommy Lyons:
MLAs should hang their heads in shame. But will they? No, I don’t think so. Sad.
Lisa Knuist:
This has broken my heart. Poor lady. Our NHS has gone to the dogs. The whole Review of Public Administration was the downfall. Supposed to have saved the NHS money by merging, it has in fact had the opposite result.
Mary Sweeney McGrath:
An absolute disgrace. Well done to that gentleman. More than most politicians would do.
Claire Topping:
Beggars belief. Imagine if that was your mummy or granny.
Margaret Stewart:
Total disgrace. The so-called MLAs won’t be shivering. Well done to the kind gent. He has a heart for the sick and elderly.
RhonaTodd:
Just awful. And so sad that the lady was without the basic needs, such as warmth. God bless her.
Martina McLaughlin:
Absolutely disgraceful. Why add new hospital wings if they can’t heat the wards that are already there?
Brenda Mitchell:
Disgraceful it has come to this.
