Derry withstand red cards to remain unbeaten in top spot

Derry, nonetheles­s, enjoyed the better run in to the break. A point from Shane McGuigan provided a telling curtain-raiser for a goal from the same player as Derry wiped out the Waterford lead.

Shane McGuigan swung over two points, before Paul McNeill palmed home Derry’s second goal in the 67 th minute, after a run from Niall Toner.

Leitrim grabbed two early points, but a fifth minute Ryan Murray (right) goal for Antrim put Antrim on top and they led by 1–6 to 0–6 at the break.

Following the restart Leitrim got back level when Darragh Rooney fired over a 56th-minute point. But seven minutes later Ryan Murray put Antrim back in front from a placed ball.

Leitrim were level again minutes later when Domhnaill Flynn tapped over a free.

Mark Plunkett got Leitrim in front once more when he put over a 66th minute point from an acute angle out on the right wing, but six minutes later Antrim made it level pegging when Patrick McBride split the Leitrim posts from a placed ball. After that Domhnaill Flynn second free conversion saved the day for a lucky Leitrim. Leitrim scorers: R. O’Rourke 0–5 (4fs); D. Rooney 0–4; 0–1; D. Flynn 0–2 (2fs); J. Heslin G, Plunkett, R.
