Food writer Diana’s latest book has the recipe for success
TOP cook Diana Henry has won a coveted award for her latest best-selling book.
She received the Food Award at the André Simon Food and Drink Book Awards 2018 in London for her celebration of home cooking, How To Eat A Peach.
The awards are now in their 40th year of showcasing the best of contemporary food and drink writing. Henry’s book was praised by the judges for being “beautifully written but most of all packed with delicious and genuinely cookable food and lots of helpful tips for the home cook”.
It’s the latest accolade for Diana, who was born in Co Down, raised in Portstewart and Coleraine, and is now based in London, where she is a food journalist for the Sunday Telegraph and a number of magazines.
The mum of two teenage sons has published a series of critically acclaimed books, many of them including “quick and easy recipes for people who have little time but still want to eat well”.
How To Eat A Peach combines Henry’s love of matching ingredients with planning meals and was triggered by a long-time penchant for jotting down menus.
The collection of menus was inspired by food memories from France, Spain, Istanbul, New York, San Francisco and beyond.
Two years ago Prime Minister Theresa May revealed that one of her favourite meals comes from a recipe by the food writer.
The Conservative leader named Henry’s baked chicken with tarragon and Dijon mustard as one of her top three dishes.
Mrs May found the recipe in one of the chef’s best-selling books, Cook Simple.
