THE logo of technology company Kx, which is owned by Newry-based software and consulting business First Derivatives, will adorn the new Aston Martin Red Bull Racing F1 car.

The Formula One team has already been using Kx technology, but in a strengthening of ties, it was recently upgraded to ‘innovation partner’.

In its extended role, it will be deployed to enhance areas such as aerodynamic testing and high-performance analytics.

First Derivatives acquired Kx Systems in its entirety in July 2008 for £47.5m.

The Kx logo will appear alongside those of IBM, AT&T, Siemens and Hewlett Packard.

Matt Cadieux of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing said: “The analysis of sensor data, particularly

“Working with Kx, we have seen how its lightning-fast performance provides us with an edge, and we look forward to extending it across our operations.”

Kx chief executive Brian Conlon added: “We are delighted to be extending our relationship with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. We are both driven by precision and performance, and we share similar philosophies around the importance of continual innovation.”
