All life originated in the mind of God

-

THERE have been interesting exchanges in Write Back between Dr Nick Canning and Dr An tony La th am on the origin of life.

The processes cited by Dr Canning do not compare remotely with the amazing bioactivity of cells. They can only arise under controlled laboratory conditions.

In primitive conditions, chemical compounds would intermingle chaotically. No complicated structures would emerge. If they did, they would likely degrade.

The only known lifeforms are language-based. DNA language incorporates a four-letter alphabet and spelled words arranged in ‘sentences’ to give instructions which are translated to make structures. Can such a powerful language and system emerge from chaos?

Christians meet challenges to their faith by reference to converging lines of evidence. The theme of redemption through faith in the Messiah is consistent from Genesis to Revelation, despite the Bible being written over 1,600 years by 40 authors. Prophecy is fulfilled (Isaiah 53), above all, through the resurrection.

If Jesus is still dead, Christianity collapses. But the evidence in the Gospels stands up. If Jesus lives, his miracles are fact. Thus, it is reasonable to believe that life originated in the mind of God.

The rationality of nature makes it reasonable to believe that same lawfulness applies when God does miracles, even though the principles are above the limits of our minds.

Truth-seeker, you have the promise of Jesus.
