PLEA AFTER WEDDING RING LOST ON NORTH COAST BEACH WIFE ASKS PUBLIC FOR HELP

- BY MARK BAIN

A WOMAN who lost her wedding ring on a Valentine’s Day stroll along Portstewart Strand has appealed to the public for help in finding it.

Tracy Orr (39) — who is originally from Londonderry but now lives in Belfast — was visiting the north coast on a short Valentine’s break with husband Mitch.

They were walking their dog on the beach when the ring went missing. Her Texan-born husband had the piece of jewellery custom-made in America.

Tracy said the ring’s value is mainly sentimental.

“When we married eight years ago the ring was made out of gold and diamonds from a relative’s engagement ring,” she said.

“It’s not that it’s expensive, it just means a lot to me that my husband had it made specially.

“A lot of effort and thought went in to getting it just right. I can’t believe there’s another ring like it.”

Tracey said the ring — white gold with six tiny diamonds — went missing yesterday morning as they enjoyed the final few hours of their break before heading for home.

“We parked on the road outside the golf club on the way up to the beach, walked down to the seafront and played ball with our dog Heidi,” she said.

“I thought I’d try to fly a kite, but it wasn’t that windy, so we left.

“We walked back to the car and that’s when I noticed my ring was missing.

“I looked around the car with no luck, so it must have come off somewhere along the beach.

“We did look as much as we could, but we had to head back to Belfast.

“We weren’t there too long and I think the ring must have come off when I was throwing the ball for the dog.

“We hadn’t walked too far along the beach, just slightly past the first set of wooden posts near to the entry, so there can’t be too big an area that I lost it in.

“We thought it would be a lovely idea to spend a little time together.

“I didn’t realise it was going to cost me my wedding ring.” If anyone happens across the ring, Tracy has asked them to contact her by email at tracyorr@hotmail.com

“It’s somewhere a lot of people visit, so I just hope someone out there comes across it, maybe children playing in the sand,” she said.

“If they do, I’d love to have it back.”
