It’s been such a waste of money and time, blasts furious Jackal

CONTINUED FROM BACK PAGE Unsurprisingly, Frampton was unable to hide his frustration at the freak nature of the incident that led to him fracturing two bones in his hand.

The Tigers Bay fighter was sitting in the lobby of his Philadelphia hotel when someone knocked an ornament which fell over and struck him.

Not only has Frampton been impacted from a boxing perspective, with a chance at a world title fight before the end of the year now gone, financially he’s also suffered a major setback given he will miss out on the fight night purse as well as the money he’s spent on his training camp.

“Probably close to £30k on the training camp. I’ve been out here in Philly for three and a half weeks now, and I have nothing to show for it,” lamented Frampton.

“It’s s***. I know people expect you to say this, about your training camps being good and perfect, but this is the most disciplined I’ve ever been, in sparring, in listening to instructions, in bag work and everything.

“And then I go and get my f ****** arm smashed on a stupid bit of whatever the f *** it is. It should be nailed to the floor, and it isn’t. You couldn’t make it up.”

There is still a chance that Frampton could return to the ring before the end of the year, however the likelihood that will be in a fighting capacity is extremely slim.

A potential return in 2019 is no consolation for the former two-weight world champion, however, as he has been left devastated by the news he won’t be able to take on Rodriguez at the Liacouras Center on Saturday.

“They say (the timescale) is four to six weeks. And it should be fine, but... I haven’t got four to six weeks, have I? The fight’s on Saturday,” blasted Frampton.
