Josh sure to give Tigers bite: McCann
HULL City boss Grant McCann has backed Josh Magennis to add extra bite to his Tigers frontline.
The Northern Ireland international has agreed a two-year deal with the Tigers, bringing an end to his Bolton misery.
As his former club’s future is in doubt, the 28-year-old is hopeful of reviving his club career by working with former Northern Ireland favourite McCann.
“Josh’s career has gone from strength to strength and he is a proven international footballer,” said McCann.
“He can play anywhere across the front three and he is a versatile forward. He’s strong, direct and quick and he will add strong competition and physicality to us.”
Hull also brought in Wigan midfielder Leonardo Da Silva Lopes and Leicester defender Callum Elder as well as Everton’s Matthew Pennington on deadline day. The club has an option to extend the contracts of all three of their permanent signings — Magennis, Da Silva Lopes and Elder — for a further year.
Magennis scored seven goals in 44 games for Bolton last season having made a summer move from Charlton Athletic. His best spells to date came with Kilmarnock and then Charlton.
Meanwhile, the proposed sale of Bolton to Football Ventures has been temporarily suspended, the club’s joint administrator has announced.
Laurence Bassini, whose attempt to buy the League One club collapsed in May, has been awarded a court order preventing the sale of parent company Burnden Leisure Limited. Administrators say they had been “on the brink” of concluding the sale when the order was issued and are now attempting to overturn the decision.
