Musician’s one-off gig in funding drive for foodbank

A BELFAST musician is playing a one-off gig this weekend to support local people in crisis.

All the proceeds from Colm McIntyre’s Sunday night show will be donated to the SouthWest Belfast Foodbank, supporting those around the city who will rely on the service coming into autumn and winter.

After launching his debut album Redemption in May and fresh from his Irish tour supporting Cormac Neeson of Co Down rockers The Answer, Colm and The Slipstream Band will perform The Slipstream Summer Show at The Black Box.

The 32-year-old, who is originally from west Belfast, is promising fans a night of great music in aid of a very worthy cause.

Having previously fundraised for homeless charity Homeplus and Aware NI, which supports those with mental health issues, Colm now wants to support the rising number of people using food banks as more families struggle with the cost of living.

“The guys at the foodbank do incredible work supporting many families from both sides of the community, especially those with children, who need that extra bit of support,” he said.

Over the past year almost 2,000 three-day emergency food packages were handed out to people in crisis by the SouthWest Belfast Foodbank.

Colm will be supported on the night by Belfast-based instrumental duo the String Ninjas and the talented Magherafelt-born singer-songwriter Paddy Collins.

Sunday night’s gig will be at 6.30pm and tickets, £8.50 each, are available via blackboxbelfast. com
