‘Deep hurt and distress’ caused to victims after Apprentice Boys parade: Eastwood

-

Jackie Anderson: Deep hurt and distress has been caused to the Protestant people of Northern Ireland every day by the actions and words of the likes of you, Mr Eastwood, and not a word about it.

Padraig Piarais Mac An Tsaoir: Whataboutery of the highest order.

Tom Lappin: All are as bad as each other.

Sam Ann: Wise up. It’s a traditional parade and it has been for years and years.

Doire Cormac: Yep, it has traditionally been disruptive, sectarian and unwelcome.

Sam Ann: Well, just get used to it. It was legal and a family event. No one stopped you attending it. Great day out for all the family in a wonderful historic city.

Majella Doherty: No need to rub the noses of the families of the Bloody Sunday victims in it. Anyone with a decent heart wouldn’t do what they did.

Stephen Kenny: Maybe he forgets we are only displaying a badge of our armed forces, which is the most successful regiment in the British Army, whatever conflict they’ve been in.

Patrick McGarrity: Most successful? Arnhem was a bit of a disaster.

James Layton: Actually, Arnhem wasn’t. In the grand scheme of things, the Paras captured one end of the bridge, but the armour couldn’t get through, due to the Americans not capturing one of their bridges. The Germans lost men and machinery they couldn’t replace. A few months later, the Paras marched in the victory parade in Berlin.

Eric Engleby: Maybe he should arrange a meeting with the PSNI on why they never cleared the New Lodge, instead of facilitating a bonfire that wasn’t wanted by the community.

Daniel O’Connell: And ask why they do the same with all the loyalist ones while he’s there.

Sam Ann: He should be asking the PSNI why the illegal protesters weren’t removed from Londonderry during Saturday’s parade.
