No replacement pro for Lisburn, but Strydom set to make return
LISBURN have failed in their bid to get a replacement professional for their two league games this weekend, but could have a former favourite on board.
The Wallace Park side, still in the thick of the relegation battle after their immediate return to the Robinson Services Premier League, face Civil Service North today in a 35-over contest at Stormont before hosting Carrickfergus in their final home game of the season tomorrow.
They will be without Faiz Fazal for the remainder of the season as he has been called back to play in the Indian domestic Duleep Trophy, but last night Lisburn were trying to register Gerrie Strydom, brother of Reinhardt, to play in their last five games.
Strydom, now living in England, was the club’s overseas professional in 2008 and 2009, scoring over 1,000 runs at an average of 93 in his debut season, but, now two weeks shy of his 40th birthday, his last competitive appearance was eight years ago.
In the North West, Brigade can finally clinch the Long’s SuperValu Premiership title tomorrow with victory or even a narrow defeat against their only remaining challengers, Eglinton.
