Bauer Group chief quits role after 12 years to establish media consultanc­y business

THE head of Bauer Media Group in Northern Ireland is leaving his role after 12 years with the company.

Mark Mahaffy was regional managing director for Bauer’s radio stations in Northern Ireland. The UK-wide media company runs a number of prominent local stations, including Downtown Radio, Cool FM and Downtown Country.

Bauer Media NI is Northern Ireland’s biggest radio network with around 643,000 weekly listeners across their stations.

tancy business. Before joining Bauer, Mr Mahaffy was the commercial director of Mirror Group Newspapers within Northern Ireland.

Dee Ford, Bauer Group managing director, said: “During his 12-year tenure, Mark has been instrument­al in ensuring that our stations in Northern Ireland remain at the top of their game.

“Consistent­ly bringing in strong audiences, Downtown Radio, Cool FM and Downtown Country have all benefited hugely from Mark’s creativity, passion and leadership.

“As he embarks on a new venture, Bauer send thanks to Mark for his hard work and commitment over the years, and wish him all the very best.”

Details of his replacemen­t “will be announced in due course”, she added.

However, it is believed Bauer plans to look inside and outside the company for his replacemen­t, with a view to having someone in place by the end of the year.
