Lindsay pleased to shut up shop and stop the rot after poor run
DUNGANNON Swifts boss Kris Lindsay believes his side have drawn a line under their recent shaky performances with Saturday’s goalless draw at Larne.
The Swifts had shipped 12 goals in their three games prior to the weekend trip to Inver Park, making their clean sheet in east Antrim all the more welcome for former centre-half Lindsay.
“I’ve said all along you’re going to have runs where you’re coming up against quality opposition every week,” Lindsay said.
“Larne, Glentoran, Crusaders, all full-time outfits, quality sides in Coleraine, Cliftonville, Ballymena, so you’re going through runs where it’s extremely difficult.
“You’re going to go through patches where results don’t go your way and it’s important you don’t get too downhearted and you try to react in the right way.
“We did that at Larne, so I’m delighted.”
Opposite number Tiernan Lynch admitted he was frustrated after seeing his men fail to breakdown a resolute visiting side.
“I can’t fault the boys for their efforts,” he said.
“They did everything that was asked of them but, credit to Dungannon, they stuck to their task well.
“We created some good chances especially in the first-half, but we just couldn’t find the goal that we needed.
