Investigative TV reporter Stacey to reflect on her career at Belfast show

- BY SARAH TULLOCH

STACEY Dooley is to bring stories from her 12 years in journalism and documentary making to the Ulster Hall in Belfast.

The event next February, Conversations with Stacey Dooley, will see the 32-year-old talk about her career.

She will also discuss her future ambitions, as well as how news and investigative journalism is evolving in such a highly polarised global political climate and a constantly shifting media landscape.

Dooley, who was crowned the winner of last year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing, left school at 15 and never studied journalism professionally.

She emerged as one of the BBC’s most celebrated presenters through her hugely popular investigative series, which has covered a diverse range of topics from across the world. These have included arms dealers in the USA, Nigeria’s female suicide bombers and Russia’s war on women. She has also made two documentaries in Northern Ireland.

In the aftermath of the general election in 2017, the documentary maker headed here to find out more about ‘The Billion Pound Party’, the DUP, as part of her Stacey Dooley Investigates series.

Last year, Shot By My Neighbour, which explored paramilitary-style punishment attacks, aired on BBC One.

Also in 2018, her series Stacey Dooley: Face to Face with Isis was nominated for two Grierson Awards.

Dooley is the author of the bestselling book On the Front Line with the Women Who Fight Back, in which she drew on her global encounters with incredible women in extraordinary circumstances.

As part of her 10-date tour of the UK, she will stop off in Belfast at the Ulster Hall on February 23 next year.

Stacey said: “I am so excited to be back on tour and I am very much looking forward to seeing you all there.”

Organisers said it will be “a thought-provoking, inspiring and informative evening”.

As part of her tour, which runs from December to February, Dooley is also heading to venues in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Cardiff.

Tickets for Conversations with Stacey Dooley are on sale now from www.faneproductions.com.
