Arlene Foster: DUP would look at a time-limited backstop

-

Toireasa Ui Bheatha: Apart from some extremists, the entire continent of Europe refuses to back a time-limited backstop because the time limit stops the backstop being an actual backstop. Aaarrrghh! The horror of logic.

Michael Hegarty: The UK can accept it now, or after they leave with no-deal. Otherwise, there will be no talks on the trade deal.

Robert Stevenson: The backstop goes, or no-deal. Barnier needs to stop messing about. It’s not Theresa May he is dealing with now.

John Smith Toireasa:

Ui Bheatha, well, that is only common sense. The backstop is basically an insurance policy. It needs to be in force until a withdrawal deal is agreed.

Patrick Murray: They don’t need your support now Arlene. You’re back to being an irrelevance that just gets paid lip-service.

Aodhan Mac Artain: The DUP were always going to sell out the Union. They will accept May’s deal under Boris and claim it as a victory. Anyone in the north that wants to remain attached to that ridiculous farce in Westminster needs their head examined.

Trevor Lynn Williamson: Aodhan Mac Artain, what absolute rank nonsense. Who are you to lecture on the maintenance of the Union?

Fiona Elliott: Hopefully, this debacle will finally be an end to Mrs Foster’s political career. What a total mess they have made of this.

Michael Isaac: Either side here would throw both paddles out of the boat if the other said they were a good idea.

Michael Hegarty: As someone who believes in a united Ireland, Arlene Foster is really doing a great job.

William Swanton: Would unionists agree to a special free trade and tax zone that would allow Northern Ireland the best of both spheres; to trade freely with the UK and EU, thus being in and out of the EU and still being fully in the UK politically?

Paul Gibson: So, first it was no backstop, then an all-Ireland zone for certain goods and now a time-limited backstop? Arlene knows she’s going to be sold out soon enough.
