Consistency key for QUB boss Moore

AFTER overcoming Buccaneers, and the opening weekend’s terrible weather, Queen’s University are aiming to go two wins from two in Division 2A when they host UL Bohemians.

The onus for the students is very much on making a strong start in an attempt to consistently win throughout the season as opposed to replicating the last campaign’s form when their attention-grabbing run of wins was put together after Christmas.

“We have to start strong this season and avoid playing catchup rugby,” said team manager Chris Moore.

Impressive centre Rory Bell is a doubt for coach Derek Suffern’s starting side as he has picked up a shoulder injury.

Rainey Old Boys also play their first home game but John Andrews’ squad will be wanting to put things right after losing their opener to Nenagh.

However, they will be without John McCusker, who picked up a nasty cheek injury at Nenagh, and Damian McMurray who is also injured while Adam Bratton is unavailable.

South African recruit Craig Hume, who can play prop or hooker, should make his debut for Rainey.

Ballymena, who were badly beaten last weekend at Barnhall, meet Nenagh at Eaton Park.

In 2B, both Belfast Harlequins and Dungannon are away from home after losing first up. Quins travel to Sligo while Gannon head to Wanderers.

Bangor hit the road, in 2C, for Midleton bolstered by an encouraging victory over Sundays Well.

Oscar Yandall, who kicked 20 points, is back at university so Rhys Larmour is at out-half.

Also in 2C, Omagh host Tullamore and aim to do better than last weekend’s draw at Clonmel while City of Derry are at Skerries.
