Armagh duo all set to fire up Grange

- BY JOHN CAMPBELL

TWO players with senior inter-county experience, Ethan Rafferty and Michael McKenna, will have key roles when Grange meet Galbally in the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship at Crossmaglen today (4pm).

The Orchard county duo were impressive in the team’s surge to the Armagh junior title and now they are focused on taking the side to even greater glory. But in Galbally they will meet an outfit laced with experience and which includes Liam Rafferty, who saw inter-county action with Tyrone.

In the Junior Club Championship, the meeting between Derry side Glack and Tyrone representatives Rock will take place at Owenbeg tonight (7pm), where Ciaran Gourley’s experience is expected to underpin Rock’s bid to reach the semi-final.

Meanwhile, on the hurling front, Danny Magee will lead Sean Tracey’s (Lurgan) against Newry Shamrocks at Crossmaglen (2.15pm).

Both teams have looked impressive in winning their respective county championship titles and there may be little between them at the end of the day.

Tomorrow there are three Ulster Junior Club Football Championship ties down for decision.

Collegeland will meet Buncrana at the Athletic Grounds, Armagh (2pm), Monaghan champions Blackhill will host Fermanagh side Maguiresbridge at Inniskeen (2pm) and Cavan title-holders Killinkere will oppose Down outfit Bright at Kingspan Breffni (2.30pm).

Collegeland have already triumphed over St Patrick’s, Lisburn, and this is a victory which should send them into action against Buncrana in good heart, while current Fermanagh ace Ciaran Corrigan could wield a big influence in the Maguiresbridge side against Blackhill.
