I can’t wait to get back into action: Morgan

CROSSMAGLEN Rangers and Armagh defender James Morgan is hoping to bring the curtain down shortly on what he describes as “the most disappointing and frustrating period of my life”.

A succession of injuries, the most recent of which being an acute foot problem, have kept the 27-year-old Morgan in the shadows.

It was two days after assisting Armagh in the Ulster Championship that Morgan incurred his foot injury in training and since then he has been battling to regain full fitness.

He missed out on the Rangers’ recapture of the County Senior

Football Championship and had hoped to be involved in Saturday’s Ulster Club Championship quarter-final against Clontibret.

But he now discovers that this match comes “a tad too soon” for him, yet he remains optimistic that he will be fit for semi-final action should his team progress to that stage of the Ulster series.

“I am hoping that if we can get over Clontibret I will be able to challenge for a place in the next match,” reveals Morgan.

“I have just spent the most disappointing and frustrating period of my life and I would really like to be back in action again.

“Saturday’s match is coming a tad too soon for me but I am mad keen to get back into the side again. Having won the county title, we are very keen to push on and maybe get our hands on another Ulster crown. I can’t wait to get back into action”

Morgan lined out on many occasions alongside Clontibret manager John McEntee in the Rangers’ colours and is in no doubt that his former playing colleague will have the Monaghan champions primed for battle.

“I played with John when I first came into the Rangers side and then he subsequently managed us to our last Ulster Championship title triumph and now he’s standing in the way of the next one,” smiles Morgan.

Morgan does not see Rangers having any sort of edge because the match is taking place in the Athletic Grounds.

“Clontibret are an experienced team and they won’t be fazed by playing there,” he maintains.
