Here’s the perfect scare for when the air gets cold and the night grows dark. Two classic Irish spooky stories told with live music — two original scores for violin, cello, and guitar.

In Dracula’s Guest, Jonathan Harker finds himself in a strange place, under the watchful eye of an strange force. This early example of folk-horror uses the customs of an isolated German village to ratchet up the scares.

JS Le Fanu, the Invisible Prince of Victorian Dublin, invented psychologi­cal horror, treading the line between the supernatur­al and the insane.

His classic tale Green Tea sees a village curate driven to the brink of madness by terrible visions. Be afraid...

Accidental Theatre, Belfast Nov 6, 7.30pm

Where do we go when we fall asleep? Why, to the land of dreams... and nightmares. A group of teenagers on a school trip visit an isolated country house owned by black-and-white movie pioneer Charles Somna.

They uncover a strange device that will change their lives forever. They have to face their deepest darkest dreams and try to escape the sinister Neverborn.

This is a show full of physical theatre and horror that will make you hesitate before turning out the bedroom light.

Grand Opera House, Belfast Nov 8-9, 7.30pm

This night of music and ballet showcases Birmingham Royal Ballet’s world-class orchestra, the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, under the baton of Northern Ireland’s own Paul Murphy, alongside the company’s internatio­nally-acclaimed dancers.

They are joined by Belfast-born Melissa Hamilton, rising star of sister company The Royal Ballet.

The show is compered by BBC Northern Ireland’s Noel Thompson, and includes classical pas de deux from The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, and orchestral highlights such as Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending and Saint-Saens’ Danse Macabre.
