Rainey in a confident mood: Smyth

QUEEN’S University and Rainey Old Boys are in strong positions in Division 2A, with the students sitting top of the table after three straight wins and the Magherafelt side in third.

Both teams are at home this weekend as Queen’s play fourthplaced Cashel at the Dub, while Rainey, who are three points behind the leaders, host bottom side Dolphin.

Rainey director of rugby Brian Smyth said of Dolphin: “They’ve had a tough start. We’re confident of where we’re at and we’d expect to win our home games.”

Rainey’s new recruit Conor Brockschmidt gets a first AIL start in the back-row, while fellow South African Craig Hume is at loosehead prop.

As for Queen’s, they will be without Ireland Under-19 squad members Conor McKee, Lewis Pollock and Matthew Sands for their meeting with Cashel.

Also in 2A, it’s seventh against ninth when Ballymena play UL Bohemians at Eaton Park.

With a f i r st win sec ured against Corinthians in the last round, seventh-placed Belfast Harlequins are at Greystones where the home side have won all three games and are leading the way in 2B.

Dungannon, in ninth and still winless, are on the road at Sligo.

In 2C, Bangor, whose only win so far was on the opening weekend, go to third-placed Bruff.

Omagh, i n sixth, welcome leaders Enniscorthy to Thomas Mellon Playing Fields, while City of Derry, who are seventh in the table, are at basement team Sundays Well.
