New office development at Chancery House to hold 300 workers
Offices: Chancery House
A NEW proposed nine-storey office building in Belfast city centre could house up to 300 workers once completed, it has emerged.
There are plans to construct the grade A office building at Victoria Street. It would see the current Chancery House building knocked down to make way for the development.
In 2017, the building was sold in excess of its guide price of £1.45m following a competitive bidding process.
Chancery House, which is located on the edge of Belfast’s law courts and opposite Victoria Square Shopping Centre, was bought by a private developer.
The fresh planning application has been made by Chancery House Investments Ltd, which includes Northern Ireland businessman Darren Donnelly as a director.
It’s being designed by Todd Architects alongside planning consultancy Turley.
A design statement says the development could accommodate between 250-300 office workers.
The building would include more than 46,000 sq ft of grade A office space, and those behind it have said it “would assist in addressing an identified need in the marketplace for small office floor plates to primarily serve indigenous businesses which are expanding and want a city centre business location”.
The statement says the design of the development “has been carefully formulated and responds to the immediate context of the site and its surrounding”.
“The proposals improve the setting of the Old Town Hall and define its location with a building which adds vibrancy to this important nodal point,” it added.
