Some staff at QIH involved in attacks on bosses: claim

ONE of the saboteurs behind a campaign of intimidation against companies once owned by Sean Quinn has implicated a small group of people at Quinn Industrial Holdings (QIH) in the crimes.

The man admitted involvement in industrial sabotage, fire-bombings and attacks in a Sunday Times interview.

The individual, who was not identified and was instead referred to as ‘Diesel’, revealed the motivation behind the campaign was to “get the companies back for Sean Quinn and his children”.

In the interview Diesel stated he played no part, or had any involvement in, the attack on director Kevin Lunney.

Stressing he has no knowledge of a “shadowy paymaster”, he claimed the sabotage was directed “by a small circle of people, some of whom are part of the staff at QIH”.

“There’s a lot more to this story than meets the eye, and the dogs on the street all know what’s going on and who was behind it,” he said.

When Sean Quinn lost control of his firms, KPMG was appointed receiver. It in turn appointed Paul O’Brien to manage them until they could be sold off.

“Our i nstructions were to drive Paul O’Brien out of the company and get it back for Sean Quinn,” he said.

Diesel added: “We were used to do their dirty work. Do I regret getting involved? Yes, I do. It was never about money. No one was paid. We were told it was all to get the companies back for Sean Quinn and his family.”

Mr Quinn has condemned all attacks on the business and its staff.
