NORTHERN Ireland serviced accommodation firm Dream Apartments is launching 300 properties in Dubai over the next 18 months.

The apartments at The Jumeirah Beach Residence Marina will range from one to three-bedroom units aimed at business and leisure travellers, and those who are relocating.

Tom Smyth, founder and owner of Dream Apartments, said: “I am absolutely over the Moon to sign this deal on these eagerly awaited properties in the amazing Dubai, where I enjoyed living for many years.

“To launch in the place where the idea for Dream Apartments was born is simply a dream come true.”

He said the authorities in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates should be applauded for their business-friendly approach.

“We plan to lead the Dubai market, becoming the very best in the serviced apartment sector in the Emirates.”

Dream Apartments was founded by Mr Smyth two years ago, and now operates apartments in UK cities as well as in Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Sao Paulo.

Their customer base is 70% corporate and 30% leisure. Mr Smyth added: “Our success is in part down to a change in how many business and leisure travellers approach their travel arrangements, preferring the ‘ home from home’ experience to the more formal hotel offering.”

Earlier this year Dream Apartments launched ‘dream pods’ in Bank Square in Belfast, close to Kelly’s Cellars pub and the Mourne Seafood Bar.

They are like scaled-down bedrooms with what the company called “quirky design features”.
