At double: Ryan Campbell hit a brace for the Mallards

RYAN Campbell rolled back the years as he bagged a brace to help send Ballinamallard United into second place in the Bluefin Sport Championship.

The 38-year-old scored twice in the first half of the Mallards’ 4-0 win away to Dundela — taking his tally for the season to 11 — and with Loughgall losing 3-0 at home to Knockbreda the Fermanagh men edged a point ahead of the Villagers.

Campbell’s double plus an own-goal had Ballinamallard 3-0 up at the break and they added the fourth through Matthew Smyth to move them five points behind leaders Portadown.

Knockbreda got their first win since the opening day when they stunned Loughgall at Lakeview Park but remain five points adrift of Dergview at the bottom.

David Fearon struck twice, either side of a goal from Gary Lavery.

Loughgall are now six points behind Portadown with a game in hand ahead of next week’s trip to Shamrock Park.

PSNI did most of the damage in the first half as they ran out 5-3 winners over Queen’s.

Two goals from Mark Anderson either side of a strike from Nathan Riddle had them comfortable by the break.

A Nathan O’Neill own-goal brought Queen’s back into the game before Brian Cabraley restored the three-goal advantage. Mark McKenna got a second for the students, but comeback hopes were crushed when Tony Tumely hit PSNI’s fifth, with Lorcan McIlroy’s late finish being merely a consolation for Queen’s.

Portadown stretched their lead at the top on Friday when they squeezed out a 1- 0 win at Ballyclare Comrades thanks to a goal from Conall McGrandles.

Also on Friday, H&W Welders were 2-1 winners at Newry City, Ross Arthurs and Matthew Ferguson getting goals either side of Kevin McArdle’s equaliser.
