A WOMAN stabbed her 23-month-old son to death after a mental breakdown triggered by her bullying pilot boyfriend.
Magda Lesicka (33) was subjected to relentless torment by Ryanair flight captain Peter Chilvers, a court heard.
Lesicka, who met Chilvers while working for the airline, attacked their son James at her home in Greater Manchester in 2017 then tried to kill herself.
The Polish national was jailed for 15 years last year after pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.
Chilvers (33) from Northwich, Cheshire, denied any wrongdoing. He went on trial at Manchester Crown Court, where a jury convicted him last month of controlling behaviour. Reporting restrictions were lifted yesterday as he was jailed for 18 months.
Chilvers had repeatedly threatened to kill Lesicka if she removed their son from his care and demanded they continue to live together, jurors heard.
The pilot warned her in a phone call that she did not have the resources to win a custody battle and said: “I want James to have brothers and sisters... not a half-brother and sister with a f ***ing moron that you find.”
The couple had been in relationship since 2010, but Chilvers cheated on Lesicka with another Ryanair crew member, Lisa Spencer, now his partner and mother to his two daughters.
In the days before the killing on August 26, Lesicka made internet searches about “taser UK law”, “self defence weapons UK” and “killing in self defence” before contacting Women’s Aid.
Lesicka also phoned Greater Manchester Police. After two officers were sent to her address, she showed them bruises on her arm and thigh.
When she was informed Chilvers would be arrested, a frightened Lesicka said she did not want that to a happen.
The Crown accepted her defence that she killed James after a breakdown induced by the “psychological torment” inflicted by Chilvers, which included forcing her into degrading sex acts.
As part of the evidence, the court heard a 33-minute phone call made by Chilvers to Lesicka before the killing, in which at times he screamed profanities.
Chilvers, originally from Stoke-on-Trent, had downloaded an app to his phone which enabled him to record his calls.
Rob Hall, prosecuting, said Chilvers’s intention may have been to aid any forthcoming legal proceedings over his son’s future, but instead he had inadvertently confirmed his “bullying, controlling and self-centred nature”.
