W e can rock Bannsiders again, maintains Gray

BOTTOM-OF-THE-TABLE Warrenpoint Town have happy memories of Coleraine’s last visit to Milltown and will hope to use that to their advantage in a vital fixture today at both ends of the Irish Premiership.

Back in November, the Bannsiders rocked up at Warrenpoint confident that they would keep their unbeaten start intact but left stunned having lost 3-1.

Alan O’Sullivan netted twice for Town to give Barry Gray’s team a crucial victory.

Some might suggest Coleraine haven’t been the same since. Certainly the form of Oran Kearney’s side has been patchy from then on. Having lost to fellow title challengers Cliftonville and Crusaders in recent outings, Coleraine, now in fifth, could do with another strong run.

Gray, though, fancies his chances of another upset.

Gray (below) said: “Coleraine are a top side and we know how dangerous they can be, but we are confident that things are moving in the right direction for us and confident that we can make this a game which we will hopefully record points from. “Games against the top six for us are a bonus, therefore we shouldn’t fear any opposition, especially at Milltown. I’ve no doubt that, if we can build on last week’s performance versus Glentoran, we can get something.” Warrenpoint felt they were unlucky to lose 2-1 at Glentoran last weekend when young goalkeeper Mark Byrne was red-carded with the visitors in front. The decision left Gray fuming. “Without doubt the red card for Mark was a massive turning point, one which I strongly believe the referee got wrong,” he added.
