Seeley to lead ABM’s quest for GP2 silverware

- BY ROY HARRIS

CARRICK’S Alastair Seeley will ride for the Quattro ABM Racing team in the new season and contest the 2020 British Quattro Plant Group GP2 Championship that runs alongside the British Supersport series.

Seeley returns to ABM after two seasons away with the task of taking the GP2 title for the team who finished second in last year’s series.

Lining up alongside the ‘Wee Wizard’ will be former British Motostar champion Charlie Nesbitt, who impressed in his first full Supersport season in 2019.

The ABM machines, under the guidance of Tony Scott, are powered completely by stock Triumph engines in an ABM chassis. The series is seen as a stepping stone towards the Moto2 World Championship.

Scott said: “We are pleased to see the GP2 series growing in stature and it would be nice for us to lift the title in the Championship we helped develop. Alastair has previous experience with ABM after taking a handful of wins against full-blooded Supersport machines in 2017.”

Seeley has already secured Quattro Plant Bournemouth Kawasakis for the Supersport, Superstock and Superbike classes for the North West 200, where he will look to add to his record number of wins (24) around the Triangle.

√ THE remarkable career of John Surtees, the only man ever to win two and four-wheel World Championships, will be celebrated at this year’s Classic TT to mark the 60th anniversary of his final TT appearance.

Surtees won seven motorcycle World Championships before switching to four wheels in 1961 and winning the F1 World Championship with Ferrari in 1964.
