We have a lot of work to do and not much space to do it in: Gray

- Relegation scrap: Warrenpoint chief Barry Gray BY IAN CAHOON

WARRENPOINT Town boss Barry Gray admits his side are battling against the clock in their bid for Premiership survival.

Gray took over at Milltown for the second time in October and has guided the club off the bottom of the table, two points above Institute.

They almost had another point for their tally on Saturday, but went down to Andrew Mitchell’s 85th minute penalty in a 1-0 defeat at Larne.

Gray is still looking to ensure his side have a play-off spot come the end of the season, but knows it is likely to go down to the wire.

“When we took over we were as bottom as bottom could be,” he recalled. “I said then our target was to get to a play-off place and I thought that was hard work to even get us to that point, but that was the target.

“We’re off bottom, and there are only a couple of points in it, but that remains the target. It hasn’t changed and we’re still very much focused in making sure we have at least a play-off.

“No doubt there will be plenty of twists and turns, but we’re just grateful it’s in our own hands.

“We have taken in a lot of players in the January window and there’s a lot of disruption and hard work involved in that.

“Our biggest problem now is that we’re fighting against the clock because we’ve had to do a lot of work in the middle of the season, as well as fighting to take points from games.

“It’stakenitstollonusasstaff and the players, but we’re getting there. Whether we get there in the time that’s needed is up for debate.”
