Ex-patisserie revamp gets under way as Bullitt teases new bar plan

- BY CAITRÍONA MC BRIDE

WORK has begun on a former patisserie in south Belfast which is reopen with a new name after closing last year.

An application has been made by Belfast Pub Co Ltd for a grant and renewal entertainments licence for The Albany and Juno Cafe, which was formerly Miel et Moi.

Miel et Moi and Miel et Vite on the Lisburn Road were run by the Bachus Group, which ended its lease on the building.

The firm also ran The Albany, a bar and restaurant beside Miel et Moi, which closed in October and reopened late last year.

Paul Camplisson is one of two directors of Belfast Pub Co Ltd.

He founded Drinks Inc in 2001. It has developed into one of the biggest independent drinks distributors in Ireland.

It is now owned by wholesale and retail giant Musgrave.

Hospitality Ulster chief Colin Neill welcomed the news and said it would be great to see the venue open again.

“From our point of view, it is a really positive thing to see new business like this reopen and being updated,” he added.

“It is encouraging to see all those jobs that will be created.

“I could only speculate, but the name change, to me, would be because they are going to change the offering.

“If you have two premises like The Albany and Juno Cafe, you can target two different markets.”

Meanwhile, in Belfast city centre, Bullitt Hotel is recruiting for its new late-night bar Rattlebag. The hotel is part of the Beannchor Group led by Bill Wolsey.

According to a job advertisement, Rattlebag will be the “black sheep” of the brand with “an independent bar feel”.
