Everun buys wind turbine assets of maintenance firm
A BELFAST wind turbine management firm has bought an operation and maintenance provider in Omagh.
The purchase of The Wind Factory UK will see Everun Ltd take over immediate control of the company’s 25 wind turbine assets.
The Wind Factory UK’s field engineering team will also join Everun operations.
Michael Thompson, managing director of Everun, said that the purchase was “testament to our commitment to the renewable energy sector within Northern Ireland and specifically the medium sized on-shore wind market”.
“If Northern Ireland is to achieve the new renewable energy targets of 70% of electricity from renewable s by 2030, it is imperative that we maximise both the lifespan and yield from existing turbine assets,” he added.
“Growth by acquisition is very much part of our overall business strategy and we look forward to integrating The Wind Factory UK business within the Everun group and maximising the benefits that can flow for our customers.”
The transaction is the latest big deal in the renewables sector. Last week SSE Renewables announced the £51m sale of a wind farm in Co Tyrone that can generate enough electricity for 16,300 homes.
