Coronavirus: Northern Ireland travelling more than any other UK region

-

Chris Mcburney:

I think you will find the photograph with the headline is an old library photo of real peak rush-hour traffic in normal times. That said, the article is probably not far off the truth.

Harry Wilson:

You will get more and more cars on the road as people start going back to work. It’s maybe okay for some sitting at home on 80% of your wage, but not everyone has this coming in. People cannot live on air alone.

The increase in the weekly shopping bill doesn’t help. Because you’re out on the road doesn’t mean you’re heading for the beach.

David Corbett:

We don’t have enough police to carry out this function. Same way if you dial 101 you may get someone to answer it or you may not. Even when they do, it could be an hour or two before you get any response. This is not an attack on the ordinary PSNI officer trying to do their duty, but those in charge who do not supply sufficient officers to do the job.

Jaclyn Baldwin:

Are people stupid? Instead of ‘Stay Home, Save the NHS, Save Lives’ it should be ’Stay Home or Catch the Virus — Your Choice’. People are so selfish. I’ve been absolutely nowhere for 45 days. Be sensible. Yes, it can be boring and monotonous, but better that than the virus and passing it on to your family. Wise up.

Mandy Haskins:

We could put up with a complete lockdown for two weeks, so long as we see some sort of guidance, moving forward. This constant stalemate of nothing changing can’t go on.

Dave Bridget:

Today was one of the worst days for traffic I’ve seen while driving round since the lockdown came in.

Brian Martin:

I have been travelling since the lockdown, as I work in the public transport industry. Worst places are Ballymena, Ballynahinch and Antrim — and 95% are people over the age of 70. This has to stop.

Alice Ward:

Funny how many people are calling for a police state. Surely, it’s up to people to stay in?

Lorene Mcdowell:

I can see the carriageway from Belfast to Newtownards and yesterday the traffic was continuous in both directions.
