Three more recycling centres in Mid Ulster set to reopen

RECYCLING centres in the Mid Ulster and Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon council areas are reopening.

Mid Ulster District Council confirmed that three more of its centres will open next week.

Coalisland, Maghera and Tullyvar recycling centres will all reopen early next week, joining Cookstown, Drumcoo and Magherafelt recycling centres which reopened in May.

Maghera Recycling Centre will reopen on Monday and Tullyvar Recycling Centre on Tuesday, followed by Coalisland Recycling Centre on Wednesday, June 3.

Maghera and Coalisland will operate Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 5.30pm and Tullyvar will operate Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday, 8.30am to 1.30pm.

Due to the size of these centres, the potential for congestion and to ensure social distancing guidance is adhered to, trailers will not be permitted.

Commercial waste will not be accepted at these sites but residents can continue to dispose of it at Cookstown, Drumcoo and Magherafelt recycling centres where trailers will also be accepted.

The latest reopenings will mean that the district’s five main towns, together with the Clogher Valley, will once again be serviced by recycling centres.

Elsewhere, the household recycling centres in both Keady and Dromore will reopen today from 10am to 6pm.

However, ABC council has confirmed that some restrictions will remain in place.

The sites will be operational three days a week, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturday, 8am to noon.

In line with the other four centres open in the borough — in Armagh, Banbridge, Lurgan and Portadown — only household general waste, garden organic waste and cardboard will be accepted.

Cars and cars towing trailers will be allowed but no vans will be permitted entry to either site and no commercial waste will be accepted.

Meanwhile, vans and trailers are now allowed to return to household recycling centres in Antrim and Newtownabbey.

However, drivers will have to prove residency in the borough.

Access to the O’neill Road and Crumlin recycling centres will be by appointment only for a five-minute slot to prevent congestion.

There are no time restrictions at Bruslee, Newpark or Craigmore recycling centres.

Users are reminded to adhere to social distancing regulations.
