We won’t pay this fine, say family handed fixed penalty at BLM rally

-

Lesley Johnston: After the weeks of being closed in to protect our health and the NHS, they do not have the right to ride roughshod over the law.

Phyllis Montgomery Wilson: Hey, I have been on lockdown from March. This is wrong. I support the cause, but not at the risk to others.

William Douglas: Was the Parades Commission notified about this demonstration?

Michael Mclaughlin: I support your cause, but not the street protest. Not only in Derry, but nationally, there was little thought given to the risk to older people and NHS. Having said that, I do hope you don’t have to pay the fine.

Marc Thompson: No problem. Don’t pay it, then get treated like everyone else, irrespective of colour, end up in court, then jail and a prison record limiting your chances of employment when released. Welcome to the real world.

Lorna Mcelmurry: This is what causes resentment and frustration. We have to have a law that covers everyone, no matter who you are or what colour you are. Mickey Mouse laws, enforced by no one.

Janice Willighan: You have every right to protest, you have every right to illegally protest, you even have every right to continue that protest by not paying the fine. But, if you’re big enough to break the law, then you need to be big enough to take the consequences.

Pat Frampton: Break the law, pay the piper. How many lives have been put at risk because of this?

Ray Scott: Double the fine every week it’s outstanding.

Jason Stinchcomb: If she organised it, she is accountable like everyone else.

Paul Keane: Won’t obey the law? Sounds like someone needs to check their privilege.

Noel Morley: They’re looking for a mug to pay the fines for them.

David Wallace: They didn’t give a damn about NHS or people in lockdown due to health issues. Now they are complaining about a fine. Unbelievable.
