Many could die in new NI coronavirus surge: expert

-

Warren Mcbride: Hopefully, we have learnt from the initial outbreak to protect our elderly and vulnerable and that, if you are fit and healthy, with no underlying health issues, then you stand a very good chance of fighting the virus.

Ruth Lynas: The whole idea of track and trace is to prevent this happening. Small areas can then be isolated for 14 days. Hopefully, a vaccine will also be produced.

Richard Deacon: Well said. People seem to think we’re out of the woods. Things have been lifted too quick and all these protests are going to leave their mark with a second wave. Personally, I think half those that protested did not know what they were protesting for. I personally call all these protesters very selfish when we’re going through dreadful days and when, sadly, people are dying.

Eugenia Lyle: Where is the new surge going to come from? If people are following the general rules, like wash your hands, sanitise and keep your distance, I’d say we will be pretty safe.

Charlton Whitworth: The wait for a vaccine will go on longer than expected if all the experts are leaving comments on Facebook, instead of working.

Margaret Mccormick: Do these people like dealing in doom and gloom? All we get is, “It could be this, it could be that.” If you lot have nothing positive to say, just keep quiet.

Jason Turner: What was that number they were using a few months back? Was it 15k? Or was it 12k? Folks dropping like flies in the street, the papers claimed.

Paul Mcwhirter: WHO haven’t been very reliable thus far. There will be a second wave, but it will be more localised. Think of it as a thunderstorm, like we had yesterday. Some parts got hammered, other parts missed out completely.

William Miller: The fact is no one knows. Each expert has his view and will continue to have views until one turns out to be right.

Sharon Kerrigan: I’m sorry for anyone that lost a loved one, but I’m sick of all this now. I’m not scared of the virus anymore, I’m more scared of cancer.
