Masks should be compulsory: NI public’s view on face coverings

-

David Mcmaster: Have a look at what is going on in Florida and California. The virus is now out of control and masks are now mandatory.

Laura Kirk: I would wear one, but I understand that it gives limited protection to me and more substantial protection to others. What I really want is for others to wear them.

Stephen Blacker: Surgeons and those helping them have worn masks for decades to try and reduce the risk of infections.

Linda Mcgookin: I’ll be doing my shopping online. The shops will suffer if masks are mandatory.

Tracey Johnston: lf the law is that I have to wear a face mask, I will wear one. Why would I not?

Jonathan Ross: They become mandatory in England on July 24. Why not now? Does Covid pause for nine days?

Johnny Murray: Why was this not implemented from the start of Covid?

Eddie Mccullough: I’m hearing those working in shops don’t need to wear one. What happens if a worker is stacking a shelf and sneezes?

Stephen Mcmahon: Great for shoplifters. The masks offer no protection. It’s actually written on the big boxes they come in. I won’t wear one, even if it’s the law.

Julie Montgomery: I work in a supermarket. If the Government makes this decision, I’d like to know how it intends to support us with enforcing it.

Joy Beggs: Free masks should be available at the door of every shop.

Ann Graham: I have just been in a shop where a man was sneezing. We all need face coverings.

Lynn Latimer Howard: Wearing a mask is not the end of the world, but not wearing one could be the end of your world.

Martina Ward: I wear mine to protect you, so you should wear one to protect me.

Ruth Ruddy: So, shop staff don’t have to wear them, but the public do?

Timmy Wills: More good news for the online retailers and big supermarkets and another disaster for independent retailers.
