Apprentice Boys make 72 parade applications for siege anniversary

-

Sadie Logan: Such a selfish thing to parade when people like me are living with cancer and are fighting for our lives. Surely, it wouldn’t be a lot to ask to postpone this until next year? They cannot be social distancing in groups while parading or watching.

Nadine Liggett: Missed the bands this year. A culture worth enjoying. What is wrong with celebrating history and educating children of our wonderful past? Not much to think of now, only boring Covid-19.

James Jones: Itwasa great break while it lasted. One of the good things to come out of lockdown. Now it’s back to 1689. God help us.

Michael Vint: Look forward to another great family day. There’s many a thing people don’t need in their life but still enjoy.

Damian Mcreynolds:

Should stay at home.

Ann Mcguckin: Twelfth of July obeyed the rules. Unlike a certain funeral.

Damian Lindsay: Keep to your own community and march until your heart’s content.

Charles Williams: Sadly, I fear there can’t be much of a future for any group constantly looking back to events of 1689 to inspire and sustain them. Time to catch up with the present and start looking forward to 2089.

Chris Campbell: No sound as sweet as drums and flutes playing in Londonderry.

Colum Mccrudden:

Could y’all stop looking to host unnecessary public events with mass gatherings? Stop trying to run when we’re all learning to walk again.

Brian Aitken: Seriously? Didn’t anybody tell them?

Cathy Stevenson: For God’s sake live and let live — on both sides. This place is still stuck in the 1970s.

Shirley Crawford: What is the issue here? A few hours of parading and revenue brought into the town?

Samantha Dobbin: That’s

great to hear.

Nicky Mc: With infection numbers creeping up, they should be denied any parades for the rest of this year.
