Five to watch in a highly competitive field at Galgorm
1 Ryan Fox
THE winner of the 2016 NI Open, Fox knows Galgorm Castle well and will be confident he can replicate his success on the European Tour.
His recent form has been good too. The New Zealander has made the cut in seven of the eight events he’s played since lockdown, with four top-20s.
2 Garrick Higgo
HIGGO has had a meteoric rise after winning the African Tour Championship and his maiden European Tour event at the Open de Portugal last week.
The left-handed South African already has experience of Galgorm in 2020 too, having played at the NI Open three weeks ago, where he finished seventh.
3 Adrian Meronk
ANOTHER unheralded player, but one who has been threatening for a while to finally break his duck and earn a maiden European Tour victory.
The Pole has made five cuts since lockdown, but his best finish is sixth at the Celtic Classic. If he could put four rounds together this week, he may contend.
4 Calum Hill
AFTER back-to-back top-10 finishes at the Wales Open and UK Championship, Hill has struggled since, missing the cut at Valderrama and in Portugal.
But, after a week off, the Scotsman will fancy his chances around a course he has already tasted success on, having won the 2018 NI Open.
5 Michael Campbell
OKAY, this one may be a bit outlandish, but wouldn’t it be great to see the 2005 US Open champion roll back the years and triumph this week?
He’s only made one cut in the last two years — which came after a four-year absence from any Tour — so chances are probably not. But we can dream!
