ULSTER RATINGS

-

Michael Lowry 7

Some typically fast footwork early on made ground, but missed a tackle for Edinburgh’s try. He was steady and always looked dangerous.

Matt Faddes 5 In the maul for Andrew’s score he looked a bit isolated for Edinburgh’s first try. Will be annoyed at chipping straight into touch at the end of the half.

Stewart Moore 8

That’s three tries in three games now and helped set up Cooney’s score as the young centre continued his progress in Ulster’s midfield.

James Hume 7

First game in over a month and did really well down the left to launch a strong counter-attack and put in a strong effort alongside Moore.

Rob Lyttle 6 Unfortunately he only managed to last seven minutes before shipping what looked like a back injury, allowing Aaron Sexton to make his debut.

Ian Madigan 6

Some of his passing looked a bit wayward and he also riskily ran a penalty. But made up for it with a terrific offload for Cooney’s score.

John Cooney 8 Stewart Moore put him in position to score his first and ran a great line to take Carter’s pass for his second. Ended up with 18 points.

Andy Warwick 5 This was the Ballymena prop’s first start in nearly a year and he lasted nearly 50 minutes. The scrums were largely solid and he put in eight tackles.

John Andrew 8 Made off with a hat-trick of tries in a strong effort overall which also saw the starting hooker make notable incursions defensively as well.

Marty Moore 6

Still going strong as the games keep coming he performed well again and was taken off following a scrum penalty and must have been fatigued.

Alan O’connor 6

He made one vital enveloping tackle but costly penalty led to Edinburgh’s second as the pressure mounted. Still, a sturdy shift as you would expect.

Sam Carter 8

Some decent lineout work and one notable drive in the first half before his strong run to put Cooney away for Ulster’s fifth score of the night.

Sean Reidy 7

Another selfless effort from the hard-working flanker as he put in a tough old defensive shift and was credited with making 12 tackles.

Jordi Murphy 7 Not as busy as Reidy he still made useful contributions at critical moments and was on hand to dot down for Ulster’s bonus point score.

Marcell Coetzee 7

Got down to work as per usual and the dropped kick-off was a rare blemish with ball in hand. Still the key man in the physicality stakes.

REPLACEMENTS: Brad Roberts for Coetzee 74mins 6, Kyle Mccall for Warwick 48mins 6, Gareth Milasinovich for Moore 50mins 5, David O’connor for A O’connor 63mins 5, David Mccann for Reidy 69mins 6, Bill Johnston for Madigan 69mins 4, Aaron Sexton for Lyttle 7mins 5, Dave Shanahan for Cooney 69mins 5.
