Labour MP forced out for not being on-message over same-sex marriage

-

LABOUR’S shadow faith minister (no, I never heard of it before either) Janet Daby MP has resigned her post because of “misjudged comments”.

In a Zoom meeting last Friday she was asked: “Should registrars be sacked for refusing to conduct samesex marriages?” She replied that she thought there “needs to be something in place that respects people’s conscience and views of faith if they don’t wish to officiate at same-sex marriages”.

She went on to compare the situation to nurses who don’t wish to participate in abortions and can choose not to. Announcing her resignation, she now sincerely apologises for her misjudged comments and says she has supported same-sex marriage for many years. This, of course, was not enough to save her.

Her office went further, stating that she is “fully supportive of equal marriage and believes registrars should not be in the role if they do not want to conduct same-sex weddings”.

I can nearly hear the keys to Room 101 rattling from Ballyclare.

It appears that Ms Daby has undergone a complete re-education over the weekend, completely reversing her previous statement.

Another victory for free speech? No. Another case of any opinion that dares to question any aspect of the liberal-left agenda being obliterated and the proponents driven from public view by the Thought Police — even if they themselves are liberals, but are not on-message.

Wake up before it is too late.
