Wake up to the lies of Johnson

-

HOW has it come to pass that a country once upheld across the globe as having “the Mother of Parliaments”, with an independent judiciary the envy of legal systems worldwide and on which many other legal systems are based, has come to be judged alongside the old corrupt Soviet system, “where the past is rewritten so quickly you don’t know what is going to happen yesterday”?

Under the political chameleon that is Boris Johnson, as one journalist has observed, “the world he lives in and on which the rest of us can only gaze on in jealous wonder is one in which the truth does not matter at all”.

Indeed, Thucydides said of Pericles (Johnson’s idol) “that he was the better fighter of the two because even when he was defeated he managed to convince the audience that he had won”.

Orwell’s 1984 speaks to us across the decades, where he notes: “Until they become conscious they will never rebel.”

Sheerie Hurd, in her book Learning Mind, adds: “Until you wake from the dream and become conscious of the whole truth you will never rebel against the lies you are being told. Your brainwashed condition will continue to be your blissful and ignorant reality.”

Johnson, like a drowning man, clutches onto the vaccination programme, conducted by the NHS, not the obscenely overpaid and catastrophic Tory sycophants of PPE and trackand-trace infamy, as evidence of a caring, competent government, when all else points to the contrary. Yet, in spite of all the evidence, what does it also say about all of us, as it is becoming demonstrably evident that no one cares if he is telling the truth or not?
