Footballers Xmas Party

-

ON Saturday (22nd) the annual Christmas Party for the stars of Glencormac United Academy, Under 8s and Under 9s took place with over 50 children (pictured right) in attendance. Music was provided by DJ Larry who played a wide selection of Hits (All off “That's what I call Music 83) and then a Leeds United Song which only Larry seemed to know the words of but he did look well in his Christmas Jumper. However, a special guest did manage to take time off from his very busy schedule and Santa Claus certainly had a tough hour chatting to all the children and a big thank you to Douglas Bradshaw who collected Santa on the day. Club Chairman Christy Devlin spoke of how proud he is of all the Children, wished them a very happy Xmas and New Year and thanked all the hard working committee for which there would be no club only for their efforts. A special word of praise went to the clubs Director of Football, Paul Prendergast who put so much effort into organizing the day, Childs protection Officer Patrick Ward (and Official Club Photographer), Academy coaches Alan Connaughton and Andy Free, U8s coaches Lar Merriman and Martin Brady and 9s coaches Colm Griffiths and Terry Morgan. Christy also thanked the club treasurer John Hall who picks up the bills and Club Secretary Paddy “Whacks” Byrne who keeps everything in order. Finally, the biggest thank you must go to the two ladies who worked tirelessly behind the scenes on the day and do so much voluntary work over the whole year for the club which is so much appreciated, Karen Merriman and Aoife Prendergast. Well done to all and it was confirmed that Santa didn't let the kids down and they got nearly everything they asked for.
