SPIKE AT THIS TIME LAST YEAR

-

GARDAI IN County Wicklow are warning residents to be extra careful at this time of year as thieves target homes.

Detective Inspector Frank Keeneghan of Bray Garda Station explained that this time last year saw a large spike in home break-ins.

‘ There are usually valuable belongings in the home after Christmas,' explained Det. Insp. Keeneghan.

He said that extensive resources were used to tackle such crimes throughout the year.

‘People can help the gardai in a number of ways,' he said.

Residents can contact gardai at any time if they notice any suspicious activity in their area.

The most likely times are lunchtime and between 6 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.

People are urged to ensure that all doors and windows are locked, alarms set and a light left on if you are leaving the house.

If you notice any suspicious activity in your area, call Bray Garda Station on (01) 6665300.
