Free Mindout youth mental health training
FREE MINDOUT youth mental health tutor training is to be held in Bray for local youth workers and other adults working with young people in informal youth settings.
The training, arranged by Bray Area Partnership, will take place on February 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. each day, with lunch provided.
Participants will be fully trained to deliver the MindOut training to a group of young people.
The training is based on the resource MindOut which has been developed by Health Promotion HSE West and NUI Galway.
MindOut is a 12 session mental health programme which takes a positive approach to the promotion of emotional and mental health among young people.
The emphasis is on giving time to young people to explore what chal- lenges their mental health and looking at the ways they cope, ranging from personal coping skills to informal networks of support and professional or voluntary support services. All participants will be given a copy of the MindOut resource pack and Good Habits of Mind support pack.
Training is carried out over three days. Following training day one and two participants go back to their organisation and begin to implement the programme.
Participants then return six weeks later for day three which includes a review, self-care for tutors and organisational issues.
Learning content includes topics such as expressing feelings, coping strategies and support, positive self-talk and seeking help.
