En­ergy home warmer schemes for homeowners on low in­come

HOMEOWNERS on a low in­come liv­ing in the greater Bray and County Wicklow ar­eas can now ap­ply for the Bray Area Part­ner­ship bet­ter en­ergy warmer homes scheme.

The scheme in­cludes at­tic in­su­la­tion, draught-proof­ing, lag­ging jack­ets, CFL bulbs, cav­ity wall in­su­la­tion and en­ergy sav­ing ad­vice.

The scheme is run by the Part­ner­ship's en­ter­prise wing, Bray Com­mu­nity En­ter­price, sup­ported by the De­part­ment of So­cial Pro­tec­tion and the Sus­tain­able En­ergy Authroity of Ire­land.

'Since its set-up in 2010 we've in­su­lat- ed more than 200 homes in County Wicklow and cre­ated em­ploy­ment in the lo­cal area through a com­mu­nity em­ploy­ment scheme,' said a spokes­woman.

To qual­ify for the scheme you must own and live in your own home in the Bray or County Wicklow area and you must also be in re­ceipt of fuel al­lowance, fam­ily in­come sup­ple­ment, or job seek­ers al­lowance for more than six months and have a child aged un­der seven years.
