Energy home warmer schemes for homeowners on low income

HOMEOWNERS on a low income living in the greater Bray and County Wicklow areas can now apply for the Bray Area Partnershi­p better energy warmer homes scheme.

The scheme includes attic insulation, draught-proofing, lagging jackets, CFL bulbs, cavity wall insulation and energy saving advice.

The scheme is run by the Partnershi­p's enterprise wing, Bray Community Enterprice, supported by the Department of Social Protection and the Sustainabl­e Energy Authroity of Ireland.

'Since its set-up in 2010 we've insulat- ed more than 200 homes in County Wicklow and created employment in the local area through a community employment scheme,' said a spokeswoma­n.

To qualify for the scheme you must own and live in your own home in the Bray or County Wicklow area and you must also be in receipt of fuel allowance, family income supplement, or job seekers allowance for more than six months and have a child aged under seven years.
