18 months left on public toilet lease

WICKLOW Town Council only has another 18 months to go before a lease costing over €30,000 a year for a public toilet runs out.

The toilet situated on Church Street will cost €39,072 to operate during 2013, with the 20 year lease finally running out in the middle of 2014.

Speaking at Wednesday’s budget meeting, Town Clerk Helen Purcell, said she had looked into wether it was financially viable to try and buy out the remainder of the contract. ‘It’s a 20 year lease. I did look to see how much it would cost to buy it out and was told €109,389. Bearing in mind it is only here for another 18 months I didn’t think that figure was viable.
