Everyone in Newtown and the surrounding area were deeply shocked last week upon hearing of the sudden death of Noel Gregory. A lifelong Newtown supporter, whose family have and continue to play at all levels for the club, Noel passed away suddenly last Tuesday.

He was a helper in everything the club embarked on down the years. His crowning glory however was the Community Centre which occupied much of his time and of which he was chairman.

Both the Community Centre and the Matt Kelly Community Grounds stand as monuments to his endeavours down the years.

His presence and congeniality will be missed around the village and indeed never was a truer word said than that Noel “was one of life's gentlemen”.

Our sincerest condolences to his wife Betty, sons, daughter and all his extended family members and friends.

Deepest condolences also are extended to the relatives of Alex McCabe, Elsie Maniglia and Carrie Walsh who died recently.

The lotto numbers last weeks were 4, 8, 16, 20. There was no winner of the jackpot but three lucky punters received €35 for matching three numbers. Next week's jackpot stands at € 6,200.
