Major success for Minor star
A SIMPLE text message from a friend was how Barry Miley discovered he'd been deemed to be the best Minor footballer in the county this year.
The young Dunlavin star capped off a great season at club level by scooping the Minor footballer of the year award at the Wicklow GAA awards recently and he explains that it was a friend's text message that alerted him to the news.
'I just got a text off one of my friends telling me I'd won it. I was delighted, absolutely delighted, and surprised as well. I couldn't believe it'.
Miley, 18, didn't feature at all for the Intermediate side this season, opting to concentrate all his efforts on helping the Minor side to championship glory; and he succeeded. This season though the wing-back has Intermediate glory in his sights. He is fresh out of school and eager to build on last season's success.
'Hopefully I can nail down a place with the intermediate team and we'll be hoping for the championship this year, that's the plan.'
Miley is fresh out of school but won't have to worry about balancing college football with his Dunlavin commitments as he intends to throw himself straight into the big bad world of full-time employment and he intends to add a intermediate championship medal to his considerable trophy cabinet.
