1ST YEAR PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT

Many thanks to the parents and guardians of our First year students who attended the First year parent-teacher-student meeting on Thursday 17th January. Our First year students have had a very successful first term, making the transition from primary to second-level. We wish them well for the rest of the school year.

FIFTH YEAR PARENT INFORMATION

Parents and guardians of Fifth year students are invited to an Information Evening on Tuesday 22nd January at 7.30pm at the school. The theme of the evening is “Study and Introduction to Colleges”. The meeting will be an opportunity for parents and guardians to be informed about the academic opportunities offered to their childen, and to understand the third level paths open to them.

Parents will be informed about various college options, student mentoring and will be given advice on ways in which students can enhance their academic progress. We look forward to welcoming as many parents and guardians as possible to this evening.

KILIMANJARO ACHIEVERS TRIBUTE

We were sad to hear of the passing of Ian McKeever, who accompanied several of our senior and past pupils on a climb of Kilimanjaro last summer. The trip was very memorable for our students and a huge opportunity which would not have been possible without the input of Ian. MUSICAL REHEARSALS

Rehearsals for the upcoming school musical have recommenced! This year’s musical, ‘All Shook Up’, will be performed in the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray, on Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th and Friday 15th March 2013. Students and staff are looking forward to a great show and the excitement is already building. Tickets are available from the Mermaid box office, on (01) 2723140, at www.mermaidartscentre.ie and through the school. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

FIFTH YEAR FRENCH TRIP

All Fifth year French students went on a visit to the Mermaid Arts Centre last Thursday, to see a special screening of 'Le gamin au velo' organised by the Irish Film Institute. The outing was hugely enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Ms Downey and Ms Cummins, Fifth year French teachers, for organising this trip.

NEW LANGUAGE ASSISTANT

We also look forward to welcoming Martin Molitor, our newly appointed French language assistant, who will commence his work at Coláiste Chraobh Abhann at the end of January. Martin will focus on working with senior students to prepare them for their Leaving Certificate French oral examination, and will work on active projects with junior students, to encourage the use of French throughout the school.
