NEWTOWN JUNIORS F.C.

Last week we it was the frost but this week it was the torrential rain that fell Thursday night and all day Friday that ensured none of our teams saw any onfield action. With more wintry conditions forecast for the next week we can only cross the fingers and hope that we get some games played this coming weekend.

The following are the fixtures for the week ending Saturday/ Sunday 26th/27th January: Under 8’s at home to Ardmore Rovers ko Saturday at 12 noon; Under 9’s away to Arklow Town ‘B’ ko to be confirmed; Under 11’s away to St. Anthonys ko Sunday at 12 noon; Under 12’s at home to Ardmore Rovers ko Sunday at 10.45am; Under 14’s away to Enniskerry ko to be confirmed; Girls Under 16’s away to St. Josephs ko Sunday to be confirmed; Girls Under 18’s away to WFTA ko Sunday to be confirmed (Cup S/Final) (Fixtures & Ko Times Are Subject To Change).

Three players from the club celebrate their birthdays in the coming week and they are Cian Walsh from the Under 12’s, Lee Turner from the Under 14’s and Lauren Nolan from the Girl’s Under 16’s. Happy birthday to all three from everyone at the ‘juniors’.

The club would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family & friends of Jimmy Curley who sadly passed away last week. Jimmy until his retirement last year was responsible for many years for keeping the village main street and other areas clean & tidy in his job working for the Wicklow County Council. May he rest in peace.
